FoodCycle At Home

Food Cycle_At Home (2).pngJoin the Food Waste Collection Program!

Did you know the majority of the food thrown away is compostable? Composting gives back to the community, reduces waste, and decreases greenhouse gas emissions.

The City of Tucson's FoodCycle Program is a food waste collection and composting program operated by Environmental Services in partnership with the University of Arizona Compost Cats.

How does the program work?

  1. Residents receive training materials and plastic containers to fill with the food waste they generate.
  2. Containers with food waste can be emptied at one of the locked bin drop- off locations
  3. Locked food waste bins at these sites are emptied once or twice a week and the scraps are taken to the Los Reales Composting Facility where they are mixed with green waste and turned into compost.
  4. The compost is then redistributed throughout the community. When you sign up for training, you will be added to our newsletter to get compost pick up updates!
