Hope in the Park Homeless Resource Fair on Friday April 25

What: Hope in the Park, a resource fair for people experiencing homelessness.
When: Friday, April 25, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St., between South Swan Road and South Rosemont Avenue
Resource providers, including non-profit organizations and local government entities, will be at the park to assist individuals and guide them to appropriate places and agencies where services are available.
Hope in the Park is a collaboration between the City of Tucson’s Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT) and Homeless Connect.
“Hope in the Park is more than just an event. It is a beacon of compassion and unity for our community,” said Thelma Magallanes, MDOT project coordinator. “By bringing together local agencies, government bodies, businesses, medical providers and the faith-based community, Hope in the Park exemplifies the power of collective action because it demonstrates that when we unite, we can make a real difference in the fight against homelessness.”
Some of the services that will be available include:
- Obtain IDs
- Access Food Benefits
- Health Screenings
- Shelter and Housing Assistance
- Assistance to resolve outstanding traffic violations or citations
- Legal Help
- Clothing and Haircuts
- Animal Care and Food
- Behavioral Health Support
- VA Benefits
Lunch will be provided by Caridad community kitchen. MDOT will provide discounted breakfast sandwiches from Chick-fil-A.
MDOT, a division of Housing First within the City of Tucson’s Housing and Community Development department, provides support to unsheltered individuals in encampments. The team includes a family nurse practitioner and a medical assistant from El Rio Community Health Center who deliver street medicine and connects individuals with vital medical resources. The team also includes outreach workers from Old Pueblo Community Services, a Tucson nonprofit agency which provides homeless support and shelters.
Tucson Homeless Connect is a resource center for local agencies, government, businesses, medical providers and the faith community to help the homeless individuals with basic needs, referrals and advocacy.
Financial donations can be made to the Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team.
