Stormwater pollution occurs when rain water runoff transports oil, grease, fertilizer, pesticide, and trash to our fragile washes. Keeping stormwater clean and protecting our desert is a job for all of us.

ADEQ has selected automotive repair shops as the first industry to be certified under the Arizona Green Business Program. The scope of this program includes not only Pollution Prevention (P2) activities, but also Resource Conservation (energy, water and recycling) efforts.

Stormwater in the Desert is a multi-media based activity book with a curriculum that teaches stormwater principles, wash safety and rainwater harvesting. This 30-page book uses ample color graphics, web-based resources, flash animation, some fun puzzles and exercises, as well as lab-style classroom projects.
The web site includes a Teacher’s Guide, a list of Arizona Department of Education curriculum standards met in each section of the book, and “Frequently Asked Questions.”
