Office of the City Manager - Tim Thomure

Tim Thomure was appointed by the Mayor and Council to be the City of Tucson's City Manager on March 19, 2024 and officially began serving in the position on July 1. City Manager Thomure previously served the City of Tucson as Deputy City Manager (Jan. 2023 to present) and prior to that served as an Assistant City Manager (Jan. 2021 - Jan. 2023).  He was the Director of Tucson Water from Feb. 2016 through Jan. 2021.

Tim is a licensed Professional Engineer (Civil) with 30 years of experience working in the public sector, private industry, and consulting. His expertise includes strategic planning, project delivery, and water policy. Tim previously served as Chair of the Steering Committee for Arizona Potable Reuse (SCAPR), member of the Arizona Governor’s Water Augmentation, Innovation, and Conservation Council (GWAICC), member of the Tucson Active Management Area (TAMA) Groundwater Users Advisory Committee (GUAC), and the Arizona Drought Contingency Plan (Arizona DCP) Steering Committee. He recently served on Arizona’s Colorado River Reconsultation Committee (ARC) and served as an appointed member of the Arizona Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA).

Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Illinois, a Master of Water Resources Engineering degree from the University of Arizona, and a Graduate Certificate in Water Policy from the University of Arizona.
